Why Google Adwords Are Still Worth the Effort
Over the last few months I see that the topic of whether Google Adwords is worth the effort is being discussed more in Internet ad-land. I still believe in Google Adwords and in this post I’m going to tell you why.
It takes time to get to the point where search engine traffic is coming to a site. To get a business ‘out there’ sometime we just need to put an ad up. With Google Adwords, it’s possible to bring in a truckload of visitors at a low cost. Those visitors can be from just one country or if you want to get really local then you include the town or city name in the keyword selection.
The trick is to find the way to do it so that money isn’t wasted. That’s where experience comes in. Did you know that 95% of Adwords users just throw money down the drain trying to understand how to use it so that they get their customers flowing through the door to their site?
Most of these users don’t know about how to write copy. They also don’t know how to pick keywords that are relevant and likely to bring in customers.
In my experience, I have found that creating a small group of ads that use a particular keyword, and link to a landing page on the site that is designed for those keywords is what works.
Every ad has to be tracked closely and tweaked as necessary. There are behaviour traits with every niche and keyword. The trick is to fully understand the keyword and then match a relevant and appropriate landing page to it. The landing page has to have a call to action, as does the Adword ad.
Keep testing the ad by adding different elements to it and by changing the style of information that you providing. I am also a very keen user of Exact match on the keyword. I find that my ads are displayed to a more targetted market this way.
Some advertisers are using Facebook ads now, and have abandoned Google. However, I find that they both have their virtues and it’s depends who you are trying to reach and what you are offering. I know that I won’t be shutting the door on Google Adwords for a long time yet.
